We were so excited to finally celebrate with Aimee and Lane after their winter wedding in Canmore got delayed due to covid. Even though we had to wait – everything worked out so perfectly, like it was all meant to be.
Here’s a peek into their beautiful day.

Wedding theme and colours (explain the reason behind your decision)
We always knew we wanted to get married in Canmore, because we spent the first 5 years of our relationship running away to Canmore whenever we could get a break. Worried about smoke from forest fires obscuring the views in summer, and with Fall in the mountains being so hard to predict- one week it’s beautiful and the next everything is dead and ugly but not knowing when this would be, we figured the safest bet was a winter mountain wedding. It would be cold, but at least predictable and beautiful. We lucked out and had the warmest day in February, -5°C, but so much warmer than February sometimes is! We chose navy blue and forest green to highlight the mountains and nature surrounding us while feeling warm and cozy. Our decorations and overall theme we tried to make woodsy, cozy, warm, and content. Like the feeling you get after a big day outside in the mountains, and you’re back at home curled up in your pajamas with sore muscles, a full tummy, and full heart.

Your top 3 best moments and why
One favorite was getting ready and feeling the excitement and anticipation of seeing the bride walk down the aisle. While we were getting ready, the clouds rolled in and covered the mountains for most of the day. But Lane phoned Aimee while getting ready and said “Did you see what’s outside?” There was the most perfect, delicate snowflakes floating down. Two years earlier, leaving the house in a snowstorm with big fluffy flakes, Lane looked at me and told me that was how my hair would look on our wedding day- with the white flakes sitting on top of my red hair. We weren’t even engaged then, and I remember giggling and thinking he was silly. But it’s true, the whole day, fluffy white flakes drifted down. Not so many that we were soaking wet, but the perfect amount of snow. And, as the day went on, the mountains peeked out from the clouds making the most beautiful backdrop for photos. A mountain wedding in February was a risk, but we were rewarded! Our first dance was so special too, giving us a couple moments to be together and slow down. We chatted about the day while we were dancing, and it was so nice to have a few moments that felt like it was just the two of us even though everyone was watching.
Wedding song, explain choice for song
My Best Friend- Tim McGraw. Lane was showing Aimee a song he thought would be cute for our wedding song one day, but Aimee was so focused on the song she wanted to show him the title of his slipped their minds. We spent months searching through Spotify and googling what we thought the album cover was trying to find it. Eventually our incredibly generic search for “Country song about best friends with black cowboy hat on cover” got us to the right one. We slow-danced in the living room to it and knew we had found the one! We realized it fit so well, because we always say how thankful we are to be each other’s best friend.
Your top 3 favorite wedding details (cake, flowers, dress, band, etc.) and why
Cake! We had an ice cream cake in February. Both being summer babies, naturally it’s our favorite kind of cake. Another favorite was the signet ring Aimee gifted Lane. It was her father’s signet ring, given to him by Aimee’s mom on their wedding day. As Aimee’s father passed away when she was young this was a special way to honor his memory that goes beyond just the wedding day. Lastly, our choice to sit together at a sweetheart table for the dinner rather than doing a traditional head table was so special. It gave us time to enjoy each other’s company and soak in the day just the two of us. It was one of the first times we took a breath and slowed down all day and I’m so glad we made that choice! Overall, from big choices to small, we really tried to reflect who we are and our love for each other in all that we chose.
Any advice to those that are planning their wedding?
Take your time, think of the big decisions that hold meaning for you, and delegate the rest. There’s so much going on during the wedding day, it’ll let you have time together instead of making a million small decisions on the day of.
Honeymoon
We went to La Romana in the Dominican Republic to have a nice week away from everything and just be together in our newlywed bliss. We’re so glad we took this special time to be together!
