Wedding Photo Locations in Canmore

Finding wedding photo locations in Canmore is easy – the whole town is beautiful! But we do have a few locations that offer the perfect setting for your mountain wedding photos in Canmore. The following is just a shortlist of possible photo locations that are easily accessible for your busy wedding timeline.

Quarry Lake Park

Quarry Lake Park Wedding photo locations in Canmore

Quarry Lake Park is a beautiful open location for your wedding photos. With loads of parking right on site, it’s easy to access for the entire wedding party. There are so many opportunities here – there’s the big field, trees, the lake, the hill. It does get a little busy since it is also a dog park, however, Quarry Lake Park has a lot of room and is extremely spread out so it shouldn’t be an issue. In the winter, we suggest wearing boots as it can be snowy and icy.

Not only is Quarry Lake Park great for photos, it can also be used as a beautiful ceremony space. It is a little climb up a hill to get to the ceremony which could be a little challenging for those with mobility issues, or for couples that choose to have a heavily decorated ceremony.

Canmore Engine Bridge

The Canmore Engine Bridge offers multiple beautiful backdrops for your wedding photos. There’s the main attraction – the old engine bridge with the mountains in the background. There is a variety of treed paths around the area. In the middle of it all is the gorgeous Bow River that flows through. On the other side of the bridge is a little open area with mountains and trees in the background. Each season brings its unique beauty – the bright colors of summer, the moody colors in the fall with leaves everywhere, frozen rivers and snowy mountain peaks in the winter, and the spring colors emerging with snowcapped peaks in the spring. It’s very central in Canmore, which means it’s close to most venues, but also does get quite busy.

To access this area, it’s easiest to park in the residential area on 13th street, then walk through the path between the corner houses. Remember it is residential so be respectful.

Whitemans Pond

Whitemans Pond in Canmore is like a small Lake Louise but without the crowds! It has a variety of areas for your wedding photos. The first stop is right at the entrance where you can overlook the town with mountains in the background. Flip around and you have a lake view with mountains right there! The water can look really blue when the wind is settled. Just down the road there’s a little rock beach area right at the water. Keep going just a little bit on that road and you’ll find this settled beautiful blue water. From there it’s just a hop and a skip down there’s a treed area with of course, the mountain background.

It is a little bit of a drive out of Canmore, about 20 minutes on a rough, gravel road. A word of caution, in the winter the weather can change drastically up there compared to in town – the road may even be closed at times.

Policemans Creek Canmore

Policeman’s Creek is this beautiful boardwalk right in the heart of Canmore. It’s centrally located and very close to many wedding venues. It’s a narrow path on the boardwalk, so I would suggest that this location would be just for the wedding couple and not the wedding party.

It’s such a gorgeous path with many different vantage points. The trail is 3.9 kms, so you’d most likely just have to stick to the entrance if you’re on a busy timeline.
