Roisin & Hunter came all the way from Victoria for their Lake Louise Engagement session – but that’s not where they started. Roisin is from the UK, and Hunter is from Manitoba and they met when they were both working in Disneyland! How fun is that?! Of course, Alberta had to show them a traditional May Long Weekend – it wouldn’t be the long weekend without snow!
Below is just a sample of their session, to view the entire gallery, click here.
From The Couple
How did you meet?
We met whilst working at Walt Disney World in Florida. I was working in the UK Pavilion and Hunter was working at the Canadian Pavilion in Epcot.
Tell us your engagement story.
I proposed on May 12th 2018- I was preparing for that day for a long time. I had wanted to propose to her whilst her family was visiting us in Florida. Roisin and I had met whilst working for Disney and it has always been large part of our relationship. After finally meeting and spending time with Roisin’s family they happily gave me their blessing to marry her. They were ecstatic to hear that I was planning to propose whilst they were on vacation with us, and more than happy to help make sure it went off without a hitch.
On that Saturday, Roisin was at work at the Rose & Crown and I was spending the day with her family in Epcot. We were all planning to watch happily ever after (the Disney firework show) that night in Magic Kingdom since it was the one year anniversary of it starting, I was wanting to propose during the firework show but somewhere more private than in the middle of the park. I wanted it to happen at the wedding Pavilion across the lake in the Grand Floridian, Roisin and I had gone there before to watch the fireworks with my mom and grandmother before and that place had always stuck in my mind. The problem was getting Roisin there without her becoming suspicious but after talking with her sisters we had come up with a plan to make it happen.
We made late reservations at a restaurant in Animal Kingdom Lodge, under the guise of it being for Roisin’s moms birthday dinner. We ran the meal as late as we could so that we wouldn’t have enough time to get to Magic Kingdom. Roisin was the one to bring up how late we were and said we wouldn’t make it to magic kingdom in time for the fireworks (which was perfect) and suggested said that we could watch from a nearby resort. Finally my moment came to offer up the spot at the Grand Floridian, i was nervous beyond belief trying to make sure It didn’t seem forced or suspicious.
We were the first to arrive at the resort and while Roisin was in the bathroom, Roisin’s mum gave me the ring that she was hiding in her bag. I was then stuck in the bathroom trying to figure out how to hide the ring on my person without it being obvious I had it on me. I ended up sticking it down my pants to try and stay inconspicuous. We arrived ten minutes before the fireworks and got set up to watch the fireworks. I had her family distract her while I went around the corner to pull the ring out of my pants, her brother in law followed me around the corner to take the ring off of me and to hold onto it while we waited for the fireworks. Everything had been building up to that moment, a minute into the fireworks I told her how much I loved her and how I couldn’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her. On one knee with the fireworks in the background, she said yes and I could never have been happier than I was in that moment.
