Looking at this beautiful inimate wedding at the Hilltop Wedding Center in Sylvan Lake, you’d never guess that this had to be replanned at least 3 times over due to Covid-19. Despite all the challenges, and a huge storm before the ceremony, the sun came out, friends and family gathered, and Courtnee and Scott got married! It was such a beautiful day, with just the most amazing people.
Below is just a small sample of their day, to view the entire gallery click here.

Wedding theme and colours (explain the reason behind your decision):
We both appreciate the look of natural decor so we knew that we wanted lots of flowers, and natural colours. We find that this style reflects our easy-going way of life where we value taking the time to soak up the little moments together.
Approximate number of wedding guests:
30! We had originally planed to host 100 guests but unfortunately due to the restrictions how how rapidly they were changing in the weeks leading up to our big day, we could not have everybody attend. Instead, we had our family and closest friends which made the day very relaxed and intimate.
Your top 3 best moments and why:
1. Walking down the aisle. This moment was so special for us because we had talked, dreamed, and imagined what it would be like. When it actually happened, it was as if nobody else was there. When I (Scott) saw Courtnee walk down the aisle, I was overwhelmed with such a deep and passionate love that I have never felt for anybody else before.
2. Sitting on a bench after the ceremony to pause and take a moment with each other. Thankfully, we had a bit of time before heading into the reception to catch our breath and soak in the day and the fact that we were officially married!
3. Playing games at the end of the night. After the reception was starting to wrap up, Scott and I went out to play some of the yard games with each other and just hung out with our friends on the green space. It was a very chill and relaxing way to end off one of the most memorable days ever. Even though it was our wedding day, it was so nice to just be free to go off and do the things that we wanted to with each other and our friends.
Wedding song, explain choice for song:
I Will Spend My Whole Life Loving You – By: Imaginary Future, Kina Grannis
No real reason for picking this one to be honest, but it was cute and resonated with the fact that we just made a commitment to love each other for our whole lives.
Your top 3 favorite wedding details (cake, flowers, dress, band, etc.) and why:
1: Finger Hands: This just really reflects how weird we actually are and how we always need to have a little fun even in serious moments.
2: Bouquets: The flowers were absolutely stunning and got so many compliments, they were subtle in colour but so beautiful.
3: The natural beauty of the venue: The view of the lake and all the greenery on the property itself gave our day such a fresh look and feeling. It made our day feel just simply beautiful.
Any advice to those that are planning their wedding?
Don’t plan a wedding during a pandemic.
A smaller wedding is actually nicer than you expect.
Remember that the day is about you as a couple. Your guests are not there to critique or judge your wedding – they’re there to support you.
Honeymoon:
We planned to initially go to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, but had to change plans and went for a cozy and relaxed week in Invermere BC. We explored the small local shops and spent lots of time by the water. However, we are still very much looking forward to our trip to Mexico in the future, hopefully next year.
