All week long for Elise and Kyle’s Buffalo Mountain Lodge wedding in Banff, we were getting more and more nervous. The forecast was getting increasingly worse. The amount of rain in the forecast was calling for a complete downpour. The day finally arrived, and it was just surreal. There were clouds all around us- but every location we went to, the sun followed – it was like the sun was just for them. It was truly a special and beautiful day.

Wedding theme and colours (explain the reason behind your decision):
Our theme was mountain meets modern chic. Rose golds and blush with mostly greenery eucalyptus and peonies. I tried to tie in almost everything into the theme right down to the kids surprise boxes and rose gold cutlery. Rose gold is always my been my favorite, even my engagement ring!
Approximate number of wedding guests:
60. All being family or close friends
Your top 3 best moments and why:
All week everyone was asking me what the ‘plan’ was if it was going to rain – family, wedding party, even Danielle (planner). I kept saying calmly “it’s not going to rain, it’s going to be fine” and with the doubtful replies and even Kyle rolling his eyes (cuz I’m so stubborn) I made the final call the night before to have it outside. Even with 40mm and cloudy overcast in the forecast. That morning I woke up raining and cold. And my dad came over and said “your sure?” I said “yup it’s going to be fine” at 12:30 right before our first look the skies opened up and the sun was shining, but just above us and all around Banff was still cloudy and raining. And I couldn’t help but think that someone was listening all week.
Our first look. I was soooo excited to see Kyle when we were all ready. Something you plan for almost 2 years and vision what it will be like when we see each other. It was much more emotional then I would have thought. It’s amazing how you can think you can’t love someone more then you do. Then moments like that happen and you can.
Walking into the dinner/ reception and seeing our guests. It just meant the world to us that everyone made the trip all over Canada to be there for us. It was such a beautiful feeling. We felt so blessed
Wedding song, explain choice for song:
God gave me you- Blake Shelton
Since we first started dating Kyle always dedicated that song to me. Every birthday every anniversary every valentine’s day. It’s always been ‘our song’
Your top 3 favorite wedding details (cake, flowers, dress, band, etc.) and why:
Cake & doughnuts (such a huge hit people still messaging me asking where those doughnuts came from)
My bridesmaid’s flower rings. I wanted something different. And those really worked out. The girls hung them up at home
My dress. I had bought two other gowns. But when I came across that dress online I called every bridal store looking for it. Not one in Alberta had it for me to see and only one would order it in for me. I ordered it paid for it without trying it on or seeing it in person. And it was the perfect dress for me. When I know I know. I’ve always been that way.
Any advice to those that are planning their wedding?
Get a wedding planner. Lol. No honestly having a professional that knows the ins and outs the best way to do things and the most cost-effective way to do things. Give you advice that gets to know you and figure out what’s going on in your head that your envisioning. I wanted a wedding people would enjoy that wasn’t people running around and having things to get done and chores to do. Having that person there to guide not only me but everyone at the wedding I was able to actually enjoy myself. Peace of mind that everything is going as planned and I can sit back and relax. Worth every penny. I’m so grateful for Danielle and her team. The wedding wouldn’t have happened without her.
Honeymoon:
Italy or drive across the states visiting all the cool restaurants and food truck / festivals.. cuz we loveee foooddd
