Even though Cody & Allyssia had to postpone their wedding due to covid, that didn’t stop them from having an amazing celebration at the groom’s parents property. Almost everything they did was done or created by themselves or their family. We had so much fun with this group! The energy and the love they have was definitely something special.

Wedding theme and colours:
Blue & Burgundy
Approximate number of wedding guests:
We were supposed to get married in August 2020 but postponed due to Covid. We were only a couple days shy of being able to have more people at our wedding. But the 20 guests we had made it intimate and fun!
Your top 3 best moments and why:
-Seeing each other for the very first time at the ceremony
-Ending our ceremony with a very messy beer bong
-Our photos together, when we were able to just be together right after getting married. It was our first moment together and it felt magical .
An extra moment because I just cant chose 3:
The night before the wedding I was talking about my father (he passed away before my 15th bday) to my maid of honor, and while talking about him the lights flickered in the tent. I have unfortunately never had a sign from my father since he passed away.
My other bridesmaid walked over and I asked her “Hey did you see the lights flicker?” she said “Oh that means there is a spirit here”.
She had no clue my maid of honor and me were talking about my dad at the exact same time. We went in for a group hug and started crying, the lights flickered again. In that exact moment Cody walks down and says “Hey, I think we need more pics of your dad at the wedding.”
All of this happened within 1 minute. It was the craziest moment of my whole entire life, and it was the first sign I have ever had of my dad being with me.
Wedding song, explain choice for song:
You’re still the one (cover) – Bailey Rushlow
Cody had been out of town for months before the wedding so we actually didn’t pick the song until about a week before the wedding. We were out doing things for the wedding and I told him we had to pick a wedding song that day. It was the second song we listened to together and we both cried the moment it started. We looked at each other and knew it was the one. After 9 years together there have been people who have tried to bring us down, and it finally felt like we made it.
Your top 3 favorite wedding details (cake, flowers, dress, band, etc.) and why:
-Cody’s cufflinks, they were his grandpa’s
-Our wedding bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages – Allyssia’s mom spent 2 days making them for everybody, and she did it all on her own
-The picture of our cat Boo as a gentlemen that our friend got made for us as a wedding gift. We gave him a chair and had him at the ceremony and reception.
Any advice to those that are planning their wedding?
Take the help when it’s needed and don’t be scared to do what you want on your wedding day. This is not anybody else’s wedding, this is your wedding.
Hate is easy, and love takes courage. Love HARD because tomorrow is not promised. Don’t look at the hard parts of the day and then only remember that. Remember the parts that are small but big in your heart. Hold on to every second, and just breathe.
Honeymoon:
We love camping, but wanted to do glamping for our mini moon. We rented an airstream and lounged for 2 days. Our plan is to purchase a camper van this year and head across Canada next summer for our road trip.
But we may sneak away to Mexico before that :p
