We absolutely loved spending time with Aimee and Lane during their adorable mountain engagement session in Canmore. These two have so much positive energy, and so much love – it’s contagious. We’re so excited for their wedding!
Below is just small sample of their session, along with their story!
From the Couple
How did you meet?
We went to the same high school and shared some mutual friends, took some classes together, but we didn’t start hanging out until after graduation. We were both looking for someone to go on casual road trips and sit around the campfire with until one of us inevitably moved away or something as 18 year olds do… neither of us predicted that 4 years later we would be planning our wedding. We still go on lots of road trips and share tons of laughs around the campfire together, but if one of us moves away now so is the other!
Engagement story:
After an extensive car chase that included snowy ditches, Lane got my parent’s blessing in the airport lobby before they boarded a plane. While him and I were in Canmore that week I mentioned how the mountains there have seen every version of us…18 year olds who didn’t know what they wanted, 19 year olds running away for a weekend away, 20 year olds with two cats and their own apartment, but I didn’t know that by the end of the trip the mountains would see the next version of us so soon. I also joked that morning wondering if our parents ever expected us to come back from one of these many trips engaged. We went for a hike up Grotto Canyon, where we had hiked and built an Inukshuk the year prior, to see if it was still there. It wasn’t, but we quickly built a new one to mark another year. Lane sneakily gave me some snap (deception) peas to distract me while he got the ring from his backpack. He told me he wanted to take a picture of me looking up at the mountains, but some people passing by foiled his plan. Once they left he repeated that he wanted another picture from the other way, and I couldn’t figure out what was taking him so long to take it. I turned around and he was on one knee…but my first reaction was to say “NOOO you can’t do that!” because he had surprised me so well. Not sure that’s the reaction he was going for, but it was quickly followed by a yes and lots of tears.
